Cancer Profile Test
Cancer Profile© Testing Center
The Cancer Profile© is a test that was developed by Emil Schandl, Ph.D., Founder of American Metabolic Laboratories and Metabolic Research, Inc. We recommend this preventive test to everyone because it enables you to identify cancer in its earliest developmental stages- as early as 10 to 12 years before the tumor becomes detectable on other routine tests.
This Cancer Profile© test consists of 7 different tests. They are HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), both serum and urine, PHI (phosphohexose isomerase enzyme), CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen), GGTP (a liver test), TSH (a thyroid test), and DHEA-S (an adrenal hormone).
The Cancer Profile© provides early warning signs of cancer, but can also be used to monitor established cancers, and help you and your doctor to determine whether your current treatment regimen is working, as well as what you might need to do to adjust it.
The Cancer Profile© measures a wide range of markers in the body. One of the most important of these is HCG, which is a hormone that is normally produced during pregnancy but is also a hormone of malignancy. Most cancers produce HCG, so if you have any amount of HCG in your blood, this could indicate cancer. The HCG test is a very simple blood test and it checks for two sub-units of HCG; two in the blood and one in the urine. Two tests are done to positively verify the diagnosis.
Another marker in the body that the Cancer Profile© measures are an enzyme called PHI, or Phosphohexose Isomerase/ Glucose Phosphate Isomerase. PHI causes cells to change their metabolism to a process called glycolysis, in which cancer cells produce energy in a low oxygen environment that enables their survival. If your PHI enzyme is elevated, then this means that your body is becoming a perfect environment for cancer to flourish in.
According to Dr. Schandl, in an interview for the Alternative Cancer Research Institute[i], if you have surgery to remove a tumor, and your surgeon tells you that the doctors have removed all of the cancer cells if your PHI enzyme tests are positive, then this is not true, and you still have cancer. The tumor may be gone but cancer has already started establishing itself somewhere else in your body.
The Cancer Profile© also measures your thyroid hormone function. Your thyroid is your body’s “battery,” and thyroid hormones are responsible for your body’s basic metabolic rate, which is linked to the amount of oxygen that your body uses, and its availability to the tissues. The more oxygen that your cells have the fewer cancer cells that you will have in your body.
The Cancer Profile© also measures a liver enzyme called gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, or GGTP, and non-specific tumor markers called CEA, and DHEA sulfate. The liver is your body’s primary detoxification organ, and the GGTP is a great test that can show you whether you have liver disease or damage.
GGTP levels are also increased in certain types of cancer, especially metastatic liver cancer, pancreatic carcinomas, and breast and colon cancers that have metastasized to the liver, so it can be a great cancer marker test, as well. CEA is a broad-spectrum cancer antigen, or foreign protein, that can be found in many people with cancer, or most types of cancer.
Finally, DHEA is an adrenal hormone that helps the body to cope with stress and which promotes longevity and proper immune function when levels are normal. According to Dr. Schandl, most people, if not everyone with cancer, has a very low DHEA level, which means that their immune system is suppressed.
The Cancer Profile© is a great tool that can help you to prevent cancer by showing you and your doctor what you might need to address to improve your health status, or it can help you to check your progress on your current cancer treatment protocol.

The uniqueness of the Cancer Profile is that it combines a number of tests which, by themselves, might not be indicative enough, but together provide an impressive level of accuracy and precision.
While numerous studies have confirmed that HCG levels are elevated if there are cancer cells in the body, they may be present in super-low quantities that cannot be detected. Therefore, the Cancer Profile includes other tumor markers as well. In other words, what one test may miss, the others will usually detect.
In one study during its development, the tumor marker CEA proved to be sensitive in cases of metastasized bone cancer, while PHI was elevated in cancers of other organs. However, when CEA and PHI were combined, overall sensitivity was increased considerably.
By combining all these tests, the results provide an impressive level of accuracy and precision. It has been determined to have an overall accuracy of 87-97%!
The other thing that is remarkable about this battery of tests is that it is excellent not only for early detection but also for laboratory follow-up and monitoring disease reduction or progression during treatment.
All this is done without the use of radiation so monitoring of progress can safely be done far more frequently than during conventional treatment.
The tests can also be important to establish a benchmark prior to surgery. With a retest later, one can determine if the surgery has removed the whole tumor.
For example, a study in the Journal of Tumor Marker Oncology in 1992 reported that men who had had their diseased prostates removed had distinctly lower levels of both PSA and HCG, compared to those patients with tumors remaining. Clearly, lower levels of these markers indicate a procedure’s effectiveness.
The markers may also serve as a warning signal of the prospect for renewed problems.
The Cancer Profile has proven itself useful in helping to move past the era of toxic cancer screening and treatment.
