Hellen Roh, D.O.
#1 Integrative Cancer Treatment Center in North America
Hellen Roh, D.O.
Dr. Hellen Roh is a Southern California native who received her B.A. in Neuroscience from Pomona College and her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. She completed her Family Medicine residency at Adventist Health Glendale and has been board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine since 2007. Dr. Roh has worked in diverse medical care settings over the past 15 years––including family practice at Kaiser Huntington Beach, a medical staff member and provider at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier and small group private practice in Pasadena. Most recently, Dr. Roh cared for patients for Caremore Medical Group in Hacienda Heights with her husband who is also a Family Medicine physician. With this diversity of work experience, Dr. Roh’s heart has always been in integrative, functional medicine.
Her alternative approach originally stemmed from her own battle with anaphylactic allergies and immune issues as a young adult. She was intrigued by the osteopathic philosophy of medicine that sees an interrelated unity in all systems of the body and which teaches a whole-person approach to care by focusing on looking beyond symptoms and diagnoses to understand how lifestyle and environmental factors impact our health and well-being.
Dr. Roh is grateful to have finally found the perfect place to cultivate her passion for integrative medicine by joining the Cancer Center for Healing / Center for New Medicine, which will allow her to meld her training in traditional evidence-based medicine and patient-centered, holistic care with a myriad of complementary therapies to facilitate the body’s innate, God-designed ability to heal. She wants to take a broader approach to health care by forming a partnership with her patients, understanding each person as a whole (mind, body, and spirit), and then using individualized treatments to correct imbalances and underlying causes of illness and thereby improve health and restore maximum physiologic functions in the body. She believes that focusing on prevention and wellness through this whole-person approach is the key to a long, healthy, and fulfilled life. And as a lifelong student, she is excited to be joining our medical team here to nurture her desire to improve herself mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically every day and to learn from all those around her for many years to come.
Dr. Roh met her husband Dr. Richard Yung in medical school and has been married since 2006. They live in Fullerton––where she grew up––with their two sons, 14-year-old Collin and 12-year-old Ian and 4-year-old daughter. She is also a caregiver to her mother who lives with metastatic lung cancer and her disabled younger brother, who miraculously survived a massive hemorrhagic stroke at age 32. Dr. Roh is proficient in Korean and Spanish. She also enjoys singing, playing piano and cello, pilates, taking road-trips, serving at church, and spending time with family.
